Mindy and Mary at Tri Lata

Here is what you need to know about Mindy and Mary: They are two of my hardest working, most committed athletes. They do every crazy workout I assign them, they show up 3-4 times per week at Navy Seals and Tri L2, and they have fun with it. Oh, and they are successful.

Mindy got 2nd in her age group here, and 1st in a.g. last week at Mach Tenn. Mary has won Athena division two races in a row. They are both training for their first half iron distance with the Rock Star Triathlon project.

Craig Garmendia: 5:40:39

Craig writes, "Maria and I finished our first half ironman. Dude, I totally loved it. Even with the choppy water, flat tire and tornadoes, it was a total blast for me. This race really gave me a lot of confidence in this sport. This was great for me. The bike felt amazing and I didn't really feel all that bad on the run either. Thanks for all the help and for going over nutrition for the race. I really think the electrolyte tablets and sports legs really helped me."

Youth Triathlon Clinic

If a picture is worth a thousand words, what is the value of this little gem?

Fergus does it again.

Fergus Taylor is my dad. He is proof that anyone can start fitness. He never worked out a day in his life until he turned 62, when he started eating better and walking. At age 63 he ran his first marathon. Now he has run 2 marathons, 2 half marathons, and has an incredible story to tell about it (two great posts here and here.)

Saturday he broke his personal best time in the 5k...39:59! He wanted to do the 20k but decided the 5k would be better judgment. In his words, "when I got to that last section I really did what you said to do and pushed the pace. I almost upchucked. I pushed myself to the nth degree."

I'm so proud of him.

This photo is from his first 5k three years ago.
