Rev 3 Triathlon

Revolution 3 Triathlon
Sandusky, OH (Cedar Point Amusement Park)
Sept 12, 2010

I was compelled to come up to sherpa for my triathletes at this race, and some exceptional circumstances allowed me to join them on the trip.  I was glad that things worked out that I could join them, because it was a truly awesome trip.  Cedar Point has a really fun-looing cadre of roller coasters, and the whole place is on an amazing island in Lake Erie.

The STtrainer contingency at Rev3 Cedar Point (from left): Corrie, Joleyn, Dean, Kevin, Beth, Barry, Sioban. Front row: Becky, coach Stephen.

Pre-race spin with Becky and Joleyn in the beautiful Ohio contryside.
STtrainer Athletes Finishing Times:
Kevin Clouse 5:51
Amanda Parsons 6:03
Barry Smith 6:05
Becky Sharpe 6:16
Joleyn Smithing 6:18 ("and she's really really happy!")
Corrie Logan 6:30
Dean Britt 6:46

Will post some fun pictures over in the coaching blog, but here are the race photos:

Corrie smiling away some pre-race jitters.

Amanda with her cheering patrol--Dad.

A women's wave ready to hit the water.

Dean after a great swim.

Kevin crushing the bike course.  Last year at Beach to Battleship he finished last among ~8 team mates.  This year he was first among the team with a HUGE personal best time.

Barry running strong with a 6 hour finish in the crosshairs.

Amanda feeling strong (and smiling) on the run course.

Corrie finished the run by repeating this mantra: I love ST. This is fun. I love ST. This is fun.
Corrie was the instigator of this whole trip and inspired a lot of her team-mates to make the goal with her.

Dean Britt with a stong steady finish into the Cedar Point Park.
He beat his estimated finish time by 45 minutes.

Yes, Becky has come a long way, but she still has her moments. Believe me, fashion etiquette is part of the STtrainer program.

Note that her socks, shorts, jersey, gloves are team issue...even shoes and bike all match. Her team-mate has on the matching arm-warmers, and these guys were walking around in team-issue sublimated fleece cycling jackets all weekend.

So cut her some slack on the cap under the helmet. The pro peloton was doing that for decades.
