McMinnville Triathlon May 29

This race is the season opener in the Nashville local triathlon calendar, and it is also an excellent beginner's triathlon with a mini-sprint format, time trial start, and pool swim.  Team Magic always puts on an excellent race, and ACME Multisport provides excellent expo support.  So, with brand new team kits the STtrainer Team decided to turn out in force for this event.

Team Results:
Jason Haggard
Lora Fox
Carl Awh
Joleyn Smithing
Lilly Sharpe
4th overall girl
Frank Fay
Becky Sharpe
Walter Harris
Wesley
Lisa Hill
Bonnie Titre
Trey
Layrun
Chase Ledbetter

Beth March
Dean Britt
Barry Smith
Terry Walker
Suzy Dimijirian
Jen Brooks

Suzy and Jen fixing swim caps, supressing pre-race jitters.  First triathlon for each of these ladies.

Walter, Bonnie, and Beth in the swim queue, getting ready to start.

Jason "Trash Talk" Haggard completing his pre-race warm-up.

The reason you warm-up before a triathlon is so that you can race it like this.  Jason had one of the fastest bike splits of the day.

There are no words to describe the feeling I get.....

I never understand why, whenever I go to take a picture of one of my clients on a bike, they immediately take one or both their hands off the handlebars. It is like they do not want to get caught actually holding the bars.  This is especially ironic with my newer cyclists, who are not necessarily that confident on the bike to begin with.  Nevertheless, here is Suzie who completed her first tri without incident.

Walter dropping the hammer on the bike...

...and run.

Chase displaying the "which way to the gun show" variation of the discussion, above.

One thing that warms my heart is to see team work and camraderie.  Here Frank is giving his friend Trey some support (and a cool splash of water on the head.)  Trey was the victim of a lawn-mower-launching-rock-into-eye accident, then he was heavily involved in flood clean-up.  Kudos to Trey for finishing his first triathlon nontheless.

Barry, Bonnie, and Beth (aliteration not intended) giving Lisa a big whoop and holler in the finishing sprint.

10-year old Lilly displaying the spoils of Age Group First Place.

Dr. Carl Awh finished in 3rd place in his first triathlon.  He is in serious danger of "drinking the kool aid" with regards to the sport of triathlon.

Thanks to everyone who encouraged Lilly. She is so lucky to have had so many loving people around! From the pool warm up to the finish line she was surrounded by incredible examples of the goodness of the world! A special HI FIVE to CHASE L. who biked the entire course with her!! Mom of Lilly
